WINTER CSA
We are thrilled to be offering another season of Winter CSA! Our winter csa shares include a mix of crops grown in our four unheated hoop houses and those stored in our "root cellar" like coolers.
Here’s a list of some the vegetables we expect to have in the winter share: lettuce, carrots, beets, spinach, potatoes, brussels sprouts, purple daikon, onions, leeks, garlic, tatsoi, sweet potatoes, winter squash, kale, cilantro, butter turnips, claytonia, shallots, bok choy, baby salad mixes, arugula, rainbow radishes, micro greens, pea shoots, and rapini. You can scroll down for photos from previous years shares!
The Winter CSA is extra special and we have come to really enjoy being able to offer fresh local food all winter. We would love to share it with you!
Click the link above to get started. If you don’t have an account with us already, you’ll be asked to create an account which you can use in the future for ordering extra vegetables or plants for your garden (Spring of 2025). We switched to a new CSA management platform in the spring of 2024 so some of you returning members will already have an account set up.
This year our winter share will begin the first full week in November, and go for 6 weeks until the week before Christmas. We will then take two weeks off for the holidays and new year, starting back up for 6 pick ups in January, February, and March, what we call our Deep Winter weeks. Our January, February, and March shares will be double the amount of goodies and half the amount of pick up days. Transitioning to an every other week pick up in January, February, and March gives us a bigger harvest window for picking greens (spinach, kale, etc.), since greens can't be harvested when frozen. This pick up schedule will also simplify things, giving us all a bit more of a winter break. Since most of our winter food will be stored in our coolers, we figured we might as well send a double share home with you to keep for that second week!
If you are a half share, you’ll pick up every other week in November/December (like you do in the summer), and then come to one pickup per month in January/February/March. In our experience the leafy greens usually last 2-3 weeks and the storage veggies last the full month. You can also always find a buddy to pair up with to share the full share bounty with you’re not sure about using a full share but want to pick up more than once a month.
We are offering a Tuesday pickup in Rockford and Belding as well as a Wednesday pickup in Grand Rapids, all from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
The cost for a full share is $625 and half share is $350. We ask that members pay a non-refundable deposit of at least $100 when they sign up to secure their spot and the remainder at the first pickup. Just like with the Summer CSA will will also be offering a payment plan option.
